7x20x21 Is The Best Panel At BEA

UPDATE: Thanks to the generosity of The New Yorker, I am happy to add a new tagline to this panel--"7x20x21 is the only panel at BEA with an open bar."

If you'll be at BEA, I hope you can stop by the panel I'm curating with my co-worker Ryan Chapman. Here's the deal:

*7 speakers * Each with 7 minutes to talk about anything they like * Accompanied by 20 PowerPoint slides * That move forward automatically every 21 seconds *

Here's the (star-studded) lineup:
Here's the details:
4:30-6PM
Friday, May 29
@BEA's Downtown Author Stage

Here's the video of our inspiration for this event, LBF's Canon Tales:

Hi guys,

In such a small industry it would have been a common courtesy to drop the people who came up with the concept a heads up before going forward.

That is to say nothing of a proper attribution.

The event looks great by the way, but manners aren't your strong point.

Hi Walrus,

Thanks for your comment--we've definitely been in touch with SYP to let them know that they inspired out event, although I haven't heard back from anyone there. Ryan and I also spoke personally with Jamie Byng about our plans.

We're so pleased to have your inspiration, and I hope that by mentioning Canon Tales in our presentation today, and continuing our practice of linking to your video whenever possible (including here, on our Facebook page, and whenever we describe the event) you'll feel properly credited.

If you have any other concerns, you can also feel free to email me directly about them: amigreko@gmail.com

Also, we'll be filming the event, and I'd be more than happy to send you a copy for use in your UK presentations.

Best,
Ami

Yep, I mean that's a nice and all, but you didn't get in touch with us.

Jamie didn't organise the event (he was just a brilliant speaker at the second event).

Our event is all about spreading ideas, so y'know... what you are doing is great but credit should be given where credit's due.

So, it was disappointing to see our canon tales event less "shared/developed" and more "nicked" with a shrug of the shoulders and "that's the way it goes" attitude.
